Street Fair

Tilden honored the Hon. Louise E. Dankberg in grand fashion today by showing up for one of her favorite events, the Samuel J. Tilden Street Fair!

Thank you to all who attended.  We interacted with the community, registered new voters, recruited new members, socialized, and spoke with our electeds.  Most of all we honored Louise and had a good time.

Thank you to everyone who attended today, you made the day a special one!

Sad News

It is with a heavy heart that the Samuel J. Tilden Democratic Club shares the news of the passing of Louise Dankberg, a cherished member of our community and a dedicated Democratic district leader from New York City. Louise’s commitment to public service and her leadership at the Samuel J. Tilden Democratic Club were an inspiration to us all.

Louise served with distinction as the political leader of the Samuel J. Tilden Democratic Club, where she worked tirelessly to uphold the values of democracy and always strived to get an even more diverse and progressive judiciary for New York.

As we mourn her loss, we also celebrate her remarkable legacy — a legacy that will undoubtedly continue to influence the fabric of our community for years to come. Louise’s unwavering spirit and dedication to the Samuel J. Tilden Democratic Club have left an indelible mark on our hearts and our district.

We extend our deepest sympathies to Louise’s family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know her. May her memory be a beacon of hope and a reminder of the difference one person can make in the lives of many.

Support The Committee to Honor Dr. May Edward Chinn

Please support The Committee to Honor Dr. May Edward Chinn, and the Village of Harlem in the naming of the NYC Public Health Lab which will be located at 40 West 137th Street, NY NY after Dr. May Edward Chinn.

Dr. Chinn was born in 1896.  She was the first Black woman to graduate from Bellevue Medical College in 1926, now known as NYU Grossman School of Medicine. She was also the first Black female to complete an internship at Harlem Hospital in 1928. Dr. Chinn worked with Dr. Papanicolaou and cervical cancer from 1928 – 1933. Due to Dr. Chinn’s expertise in the field of early detection of cervical cancer research and her collaboration in the development of the PAP test, she has saved millions of women’s lives around the world.

What better way to honor this remarkable woman who dedicated her life to the health and well-being of the marginalized black and brown residents of Harlem.
